Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : Close-up on the perfectly rounded top. It looks unplundered. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The site is on top of a broad plateau with the mountain in the east and the fjord in the west. From this place it is a very good and broad view over the Lavangen fjord and the sea to the north. It is a very typical location for iron age settlements/farms, good view and access to the sea and the mountains.

It consists of one very large barrow mound (about 30 metres across and 2 metres tall), and three medium-sized barrows, (about 15 metres across and 1 metre tall.) One large burial cairn and one possible trace of a long house.

All the mounds look unplundered and have a very pretty round shape.

It has very pretty natural surroundings with grass meadows and forests behind. It is well worth a visit!

Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : This is a large barrow cairn. About 20 metres in length and about 10 metres wide and square-shaped. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : This barrow mound is located next to a footpath. It is a pretty-shaped small barrow (about 5-6m wide and 0.5m tall) As with the rest of the barrows in this field, it doesn't seem to have been plundered. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : The fourth barrow is a pretty one. It is the barrow that is closest to the forest and mountain. It is about 12 metres wide and 1 metre tall. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : The third barrow in silhouette against the sky and the fjord. It is about 9 metres wide and 0.5m tall. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : One of the smaller barrows. This one is about 10 metres in diameter and 1 metre tall. It is inside a sheep fence, so they occur on several pics. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : Another one of the large barrows. I have rarely seem a more perfect shaped barrow.

Lavangen
Lavangen submitted by kenntha88 : The largest barrow is a really huge one, about 40-50 metres in diameter, and about 3 metres tall, and it has a perfect shape.
