Citluk-Greda-Illyrian observatory
Citluk-Greda-Illyrian observatory submitted by GeoHerzegovina : Look to the rock with carvings (Vote or comment on this photo)
Recently (2012) discovered prehistoric site on the hill Greda above the town of Citluk. This is a visible carved symbol of the swastika on the flattened top of a limestone outcrop which provides the best and fantastic view to the east and southeast into the distance of more than 50 km.

Immediately below this large flattened rock is visible a purposely leveled and cleared space that was probably used in prehistoric ceremonial and ritual purposes. As the rock with carved swastika is located right between two large prehistoric Illyrian / pre-Illyrian hillfort and in a vicinity there is not other historical remains from other times, it may be concluded that this is a prehistoric cult place of worship of the rising sun, especially because of the position and shape of these rock from where can best be seen east and the rising sun.

According to artefacts found in two prehistoric hillforts in vicinity, the age of this ancient prehistoric observatory is - Bronze age, but only further detailed investigation will provide better knowledge about exact age and real purpose of this interesting archaeological site in this southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
