Standing Stone (Menhir) in Östergötland

When I visited this site I wasnt even looking for ancient sites at all! I was on my way to a heavy metal concert in stockholm, Sweden with a friend and we were stopping to shop some groceries at a local store and just got back to the car when I saw this runestone on a hilltop across the road! Sometimes ancient sites seems to find me and not the other way around!

This will also be my first site visited outside Norway.

The stone is small, only around 70-80 cm in height, around 30cm wide and almost triangular in shape. On the side where the runes are carved, it seems to be polished.

The signpost say that no grave was found under the stone and that the stone is probably been made as a memory rather than a grave marker.
The stone has a cross, and the runic inscription is made in the younger futhark, probably dating the stone to around 1000-1050AD.
The runic text has been translated to mean: "Frosten erected this stone in memory of Hadske, his father." It is also picturing a cross in the middle of the stone, making it probable that this man Hadske was christian.
