Blåfjell sacrificial site
Blåfjell sacrificial site submitted by kenntha88 : Looking for ancient sites is best in autumn or spring because of the vegetation is low, but it didn't help me this time! Not very impressive because of the growth, but still it is an important ritual site. (Vote or comment on this photo)
This site was hard to find! It is a long walk along the mountain from Blåfjellvatnet lake. And then across a ridge to another valley on the other side.

Once there, it was also very hard to find the site. I had to search through the forest for it, for about 2 hours until I found it! It doesn't look impressive at all, because the site is overgrown with small brush and grass. It is also in a tight forest and can be really hard to see.

The site consists of two natural shaped stone boulders with a small space (about 0.5m in width) between them. The stones are about 1 metre tall and about 2-3 metres wide.

There is a low stone ring built around the boulders, but it can be really hard to see, because it is overgrown with grass and other plants.

This place has been in use of the old Sami people up until the 17th century.

An old man I know that lives some miles away from the site warned me about going up there on a summer night, expecially the 23rd of June. He said the ground would shake and I would hear thunder!
