Klis Hillfort
Klis Hillfort submitted by AlexHunger : Klis Hillfort The original Iron Age Hillfort at Klis was continuously occupied until the Turks withdrew from the Balkans, consequently, there is little original left at Klis. Klis itself was strategic, as it controlled the only viable pass from the inland to the Sea near Split or Salona. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Hillfort in Croatia

This iron age Hillfort remained in use until well after the renaissance as it controls the strategic mountain pass to Split or Salona from the inland, consequently, little remains of ancient vestiges on account of successive renovations. Altitude 333 Meters.
