I have visited· I would like to visit

kozmoplov visited on 1st Jan 2008 - their rating: Cond: 3 Amb: 5 Access: 3 It's hard to comment, 'cause you must see it. When you are there and when you see all the details, there's no way this is natural formation. I have also some photos, that are not so beautiful like turmistika(s), but i will upload them in coming days, so people see this monument from different point of views... I have been going there for many years and with every visit, i am more sure, that it's human made and concrete, not konglomerat, like some "educated" people said and without furter explorations closed tha case. Luckily there are people who walk with open eyes and open hearts, and they can't miss this Mysterious ancient place. Some are still afraid to go there, cause it's called The Devil Stones. The Church couldn't build there "Chatedral", so they put stigma on and got people scared, and this lasts even today...

The Devil stones in south Styria, Slovenia. [These are generally considered to be a natural formation but here Turmistika makes the case for it being an unknown megalithic monument] This amazing composition, built from large stones, stands exactly at the top of a panoramic hill.

Today, this magnificent monument is hidden in the forest and unknown, because it is considered a natural monument. Perhaps this is so because the Devil’s stones in a number of properties different from the well-known megalithic monument. There is no doubt, however, the Devil’s stone are manmade.

The composition consists of 64 individual stones, large and small. Its basic element is large monoliths, whose sides have an alignment to the solstices and equinox, and also a lunar and stellar alignment. We think that this monolith construction is from Neolithic period.

We started a survey of this megalithic structure in 2006. Firstly, we counted the individual monoliths and drew a plan of the composition. In the second phase we determined astronomical characteristics – positioning monoliths and in the third stage, we photographed landmark moments of time (solstice, equinox…) and some interesting daily events, as declination marker.

Forth phase, where we are now, consists of comparative analysis of famous examples of megalithic monuments with Devil stones in south Styria. And don't be surprised. In our region there are a lot of unknown megalithic monuments, which often have a similar names, and they always be associated with the dark forces. However, the Devil stone near Maribor is something special…(to be continued)

The Devil Stones (Maribor) submitted by turmistika : 6. Daily declination light line In accordance with the season, light line moves along the polar axis. Around the winter solstice it is extreme north, and around summer solstice, when the sun is highest in the sky, extreme south.

The Devil Stones (Maribor) submitted by turmistika : 5. Daily declination light line Projection light box 1. Starts each sunny day around noon. Shortly after the sun illuminates the monolith wall, tiny light line, perfectly alligned with the polar axis (NSA 1), appears. Then light line begins to tilt towards the east, and when it is shifted by 23,5 degrees, light phenomenon ends.

Sun set in west gallery through light box 2 (line and projection on the megalith - compostion of 4 photos) It is also a daily phenomenon between spring and autumn equinox, and it happens always around 18th o'clock, or when sun reaches 270 azimuth.

STYRIA STONE MATRIX 2014
Theme hikes to megaliths and others monuments of past & field workshop

INVISIBLE SUMMIT, Theme hike
31.08. 2014, 10am - 6pm
400 m height difference, 9 km, middle demanding

Not many know, which peaks surround Invisible summit, and because of them it quickly shuns our view. Finally, we find this hidden summit so, that we followed tenths of kilometers long line, that connects some sites with Styria megaliths exactly in the east-west direction. And so we arrived in the hidden parts of the old mountain. And so, we found one more riddle from secret past. Who knows who placed a large mould from broken stones and than buried it with soil exactly on the top of Invisible summit? And who and why put on the top of the mould the upright stone, and aligned it with polar axis? Maybe the same person, which leave unusual engravings in it…

We know many stories like this. And we are delighted, that we can share them, as far as we can. After all, these stories are our common, but our path with them to the community was lonely one, but full of great pleasures. It is true that the knowledge is a great reward, but stone brought us to the point, where simple ways stops. Responsibility in front of all these findings is simply too great. So TUR(M)ISTIKA group become a part of cultural heritage institute Pohorec, what will allow us to do more exact research about Styria megaliths and networking similar institution. It is imperative, that the story goes on. Therefore, if you'll attend our programs, you will definitely support Styria megaliths project.

You can't find anything about Styria megaliths in the official records, and not alot had been written about them. They don't even exist to professionals, and for the majority of those, who know them, they are only unusual work of nature, which stir the imagination of naive people. However, here are some facts, which show the case is not so simple. Forms of megaliths in all sites, as we know, are similar to the extent. So we could say, that are designed according to the same principles, although there are different stone types. However, if this similarity is completely random, then how to explain, that they are placed in a completely identical manner in all known Styria sites? So we are completely sure, that Styria megaliths share the concept of mysterious ancient builders, after which they have been made.
