A city of Magna Graecia, founded on the Ionian Sea in the 7th century BC by Greeks from Locri. Locri Epizefiri was the last of the Greek colonies founded on the territory of the current Calabria. The settlers, who arrived at the beginning of the seventh century BC, settled initially at the Zephyrion Acra (Cape Zefirio), today Capo Bruzzano,

Later they settled a few kilometers to the north of the historic city but retaining the name of Epizephyrioi , which means precisely "around Zephyrio". Source: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locri_Epizefiri
