Hillfort in Croatia

This was an iron age Hillfort that continued to prosper after Roman conquest. Arauzona was mentioned by Plinius the elder. It was abandoned in the 3rd century as inhabitants are though to have moved to Zaton, a nearby town. There are the remains of parts of the town wall, the entrance to the south, the cisterns as well as the foundations to some houses as this Hillfort is pretty much destroyed. The house of the farmer living beneath it uses the same type of stone. Photos from digs in the 70's seemed more impressive. The eastern wall was entirely man made, but western wall was based on the foundation of a natural stone ridge.140 Meters Altitude.
