Venac Hillfort
Venac Hillfort submitted by AlexHunger : Venac Hillfort From a Distance. This Bronze Age Hillfort of the Liburni Illyrians is unusual as it is one of the few in Croatia to be made out of a natural hill, with terraces and loose material for the main defensive wall seen here, which faces the plateau behind the fort. There is a serives of Tumuli behind the Hillfort, unfortunately all plundered by a local farmer in the 70's. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Hillfort in Croatia

This is an imposing 200 Meter diameter Liburnian Illyrian Iron Age Hillfort with 4 wide terraces cut into the hill side at 78 Meters Altitude. On the south side, there is a massive irregular defensive wall out of lose material. This culture buried their dead in the Kosa tumuli field 400 meters to the South East.
