Ancient Village or Settlement in Australia. Mungo is the earliest site in the world outside Africa to be inhabited by anatomically modern humans. Now dated to 45,000 years ago

Mungo is a dry lake, it dried up around 15000 years ago. It has been used by native Australians for the last 40,000 years, although not so much now. It is situated around 110 km northeast of Mildura in New South Wales. The area is littered with artifacts from the past, mainly bones from long dead animals and hearths where food was cooked. Much more is still to be discovered as when there is a storm the sand dunes wich cover most of the antiquities are blown or washed away leaving new items.

Mungo, Australia submitted by Petercastle : One of the many hearths found around the dry lake edge. This one has charcoal as well as fish bones, caught and cooked when the lake was full 15000 years ago, beside the darkened earth. This one and the others have been uncovered by erosion.
