Modern Stone Circle etc in Bohemia

An interesting modern stone circle consisting of 21 basalt blocks from quarry in Polevsko which is twenty kilometers away. The circle was built in early nineties (1991-1992) with the use of heavy machinery during sculpturist symposium held at a nearby castle Lemberk. The author, an art painter Jiří Beránek, called it "Bezčasí", which can be translated as a "Timelessness" or so..

This art work structure should symbolize relation between past and presence. At any rate it was never finished. Two more pillars made from granite are missing.

Stone circle Bezčasí is situated in the middle of the forestal gorge which use to be an old sandpit, about one km south of the Lemberk castle. Despite there is no straight tourist trail leading there, it seems the stones are very popular. As usual the circle attract many "enthusiasts" and some of them consider this a very powerful place. Some even say that it is an ancient lost shrine. Facing to stated facts above it is obviously a bit ridiculous.

Anyway this place is worth a visit. I really enjoyed it. And there are more interesting stones to be mentioned. All the area, parks and castle Lamberk itself simply call for the stop!
