Chambered Cairn in Honshū

On the slope of a mountain, where Nabeyama pair menhirs stand, there lie 13 chambered cairns:
southern group (cairns nos.1-5);
northern group (cairns nos.6-11);
western solitary cairn no.12; and
westernmost wayside no.13.

The artifacts discovered by the excavation in 1976 were medieval coins and flint steel, so scholars suspect that these cairns are not prehistoric burial mounds but medieval Buddhist sutra mounds.
