Modern Stone Circle / Monolith in Honshū

In the playground at the port of Nagoya, several eccentric statues stand : a replica of Copenhagen mermaid, 2 survivor dogs left from the interrupted Antarctica exploration project (protagonists of the films 'Antarctica (1983 Japan)' and 'Eight Below (2006 US)') and a replica of the Moai on the Easter island, Chile.

The replica made of Shigaraki earthenware was manufactured for the World Design Exposition 1989 held in Nagoya, it was the only one replica Moai with whites of the eyes at that time (the real whites were first discovered in 1978, 200 years after the discovery of the statues by Captain Cook and other European explorers).
