Round Barrow in Honshū

A keyhole shaped tumulus 207m long which belongs to Saki Tatenami Kofungun (佐紀盾列古墳群). Like other tumuli in this tumuli group (=Kofungun), this tumulus is also regarded as a burial mound of imperial family, Empress Hibasu without any significant evidence but is under the control of the Imperial Household Agency and the entry is strictly prohibited. It has so many name variations: Hibasuhime-no-Mikoto-ryō(日葉酢媛命陵), Saki-no Terama-no Misasagi (狭木寺間之陵). The place name "Misasagi-chō" means "Town of Imperial Tombs". The tomb of Empress Hibasu is believed as the 1st tomb which adopted Haniwa potteries instead of living sacrifices.
There is a rumour that there are standing stones like Matsuokayama Kofun on the top of this tumulus. In 2009 some archaeologists were allowed to investigate the tumulus but the stones were not reported after the only 2 hour investigation of the lower part of the tumulus.
