Hanazono Rugby Stadium
Hanazono Rugby Stadium submitted by Aska : Site in Honshū Japan (Vote or comment on this photo)
Aska writes: In the garden in front of Hanazono Rugby Stadium there stands a rather poor copy of Stonehenge. It seems to symbolize the origin of rugby in England. The stadium was the first one in Japan, built in 1929, and is 'holy ground' for Japanese youth rugger because the National High School Rugby Tournament is held here on New Year’s Eve. And also it was the venue for 2019 World Rugby Cup.

The place name “hana zono(< sono)” literally means ‘flower garden’.

Note: A modern homage to Stonehenge which sits outside the Hanazono Rugby Stadium, near Osaka. This is not one of the Olympic venues but I thought it would still be an appropriate way to mark the opening of the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
