Modern site in Shikoku

Although not included in the “3 Great Gardens in Japan (Kenroku-enn in Kanawaza, Kōraku-en in Okayama and Kiraku-en in Mito)”, this garden under the foot of a mountain (232m alt.), where the chambered cairns lie, in the southern edge of the heart of Takamatsu city has an equivalent value. The vast garden around a pond can be divided into the northern and the southern parts. The former was formerly a geese hunting field and then modified into the part of the park in early 21st century, the latter was supposed to be built in the early 17th century. Some of the distinctive stone settings at the southern edge are seemed to be built in the 16th century.

Open dawn to sunset all year around, admission 410 Japanese Yen (2024 price, free on 1st Jan. and 16th Mar.(=Anniversary Opening Day)).
