Barrow Cemetery in Niger
About 200 Graves dating to prehistoric times when the Sahara was green and there was a lake in what is now the Tenere Desert of Niger.
The area was inhabited in two phases; the Kiffian culture betwwee 8000-6000 BCE and the Tenere culture between 4500-2500 BCE.
Stone tools and ceramics were found.
The Location is bout 200 Km east of Agadez and the site was discovered by Archeologist Paul Sereno from the University of Chicago who was actually looking for dinosaur bones.
After the 2006 digs, the site had to be abandoned due to civil unrest.
