Standing Stone (Menhir) in Bohemia
Šemík's grave has straight relation with famous czech medieval legend about Horymír and Křesomysl. "Local nobleman Horymír was sentenced to death by mythological duke Křesomysl because destroying his gold and silver mines. Horymír did this with the help of "Spirits of the Night" to prevent peasants leaving their fields. Before the execution he asked if he can ride his horse Šemik for the last time and it was permitted. Horymir then spurred his horse and jumped over the wall of Vyšehrad hillfort to the river Vltava and saved Horymir´s life (Must add there is a pretty high rock there...). However the horse died after reaching shelter and Horymír buried him placing the great stone above his grave."
The stone is more the one metre long piece of quartzite block and since 1887 is hidden under little classicist memorial. The site has great respect of local people and always had. In 1813 villagers spontaneously protected it before Russian soldiers who searched for the treasure e.g. In fact there are many interesting stones nearby probably old Slavic burial stones. And even prehistoric cult of the white horse is somehow ubiquitous in this area. Mysterious karst massif called Golden Horse is just 10km away and the most famous caves in there is named "Koněprusy" translated as a "White Horses"...
