Sculptured Stone in Bohemia

There are many interesting stones associated with the activity of the saints. A good example is St. Vojtech (aka St. Adalbert), the second bishop of Prague. He left some "stony traces" almost all over Bohemia. But the region south west of Pilsen is exceptional regarding quantity. For a fine example see the topic St. Vojtech stone Nebílovský Borek.

Another mysterious piece of rock associated with the St. Adalbert is hidden in the little chapel below the hill Chlumec near the ancient village of Vrčeň. In a stone next to the altar is allegedly imprint of a whole saint's body. According local legend the saint rested here in a dwelling of hermit Břímota on his way from Rome. The stone is said to cure headaches.

However the place is a bit forgotten today. Perhaps once a year a small congregation is held here but the chapel is permanently locked and to get the key is quite a challenge.
