Ancient Temple in South Korea
Old Buddhist temple established in 544 CE, destroyed during Japanese invasion in late 15C, and reconstructed in 1630 CE. Much of its constructions have curious animal ornaments (and much of pairs are, as usual of oriental guardians, combination of howling and shutting ones). Most famous one is the stone pagoda supported by 4 lions, protecting a num figurine inside, on the highest point in its precinct. The one which should not be overlooked is the western one of the pair of pagodas in front of main temple. It contains the panels of Chinese-zodiac-animal-headed men.
