The two large mounds are characteristic of the Bronze Age. They were placed on elevated ground in order to make them look even larger, as in this case. Each grave was intended for one person, but has later been used several times, perhaps as family graves.

The hollow in the southern mound has been made by treasure hunters - the indications are that they gave up before reaching the actual grave. In the northern part of the site three smaller graves are clearly visible.

The largest mound is 15 metres in diameter and 3 metres high. Their size indicates that it was people of a high social standing who were buried there.

The road that passes by the mounds is itself of historic importance. It is the ancient north-south oriented road situated on an end moraine (a sand and gravel ridge) created by the last ice age, about 12500 years ago.
