Valhaugen
Valhaugen submitted by kenntha88 : The phallitic stone seen from the west. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Round Barrow and Phallic stone in Norway. This white stone is a phallic symbol. Many of these shaped white stones are found around Norway. This is the largest ever found.

They are all white stones made of marble with a phallus shape. They were probably important in some old fertility cult, or some kind of worship.
They are all dated back to early scandinavian iron age, about 400-600 CE.

The location where the stone was found is actually some distance away from the burial mound where it was placed some years ago, and where it can be seen today.

The burial mound called Valhaugen is impressive in itself. It's about 40 metres across and over 6 metres tall and with an almost perfect shape. Although it was restored some years ago when the phallus stone was placed on top. It is one of the prettiest iron age sites in North Norway.
