Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Saxony

Number 3 and 4 of the 7000 year old Neolithic Wells were found in this area in 1982 by the brown coal opencast mining destroyed village of Eythra.
About 5500 BCE the area of Eythra was densely populated. Archaeologists found around 300 houses, it is the largest settlement of the Linear Pottery culture and Stroke-ornamented ware culture recorded so far. Two wodden Wells were found in a deep of 5 meters in this area. It is one of the most important finding spots of this era in Germany.
