Hillfort in Hedmark. On top of the large oval shaped hill called Starrberget is a very nice preserved iron age hillfort with very clear and preserved walls. To get to the hillfort there is a footpath from some nearby farm and then 3km up to the hillfort. The terrain is steep and it takes around half an hour to get up on the fort. When i visited the hillfort I was very impressed of how well preserved walls it has!

The hilltop is very steep to the east and also partially to the west. The hill is less steep to the north and south. At the south side the area is blocked by a very nice and tall "dry" wall. Some few parts of the wall have fallen down a little. The wall is made of medium sized rocks and some larger boulders. Some earth have been made to make the wall on the walls north side.

The walls is 4-5 metres wide and around 1 metre in height. It starts on the hills south east end where the terrain gets very steep and then the wall goes in a semi circle or "boomerang shape" to the south west where it ends against a rock outcrop for a length of around 40 metres. On the west side it is more moss grown than the rest of the length. Around the middle of the wall there is an opening around 1,5 metres wide.
Some parts of the middle length of the wall are very well preserved and the original layout of the stones are easily visible some places.

It is no sign of any walls on other easily accessible places to the west and north strangely enough since the wall is so thick against the south only. The inside of the hillfort have large amounts of rocky outcrops and moss and many large fir trees and some pine.
