Cosa Polygonal wall
Cosa Polygonal wall submitted by beefree : Ancient polygonal "Cyclopic" wall in Cosa Archeological park - Ansedonia, Orbetello (GR) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Hillfort in Toscana

The Walls of Cosa are largely well preserved, (thanks) to its recent renovation. It's formed by shaped polygonal blocks of sandstone of considerable size, which have been regularized on the outer surface and mated with clean cuts at the junction points.

Along the walls were three doors, a postern (at the acropolis) and eighteen towers (of different style) on the sides exposed to the sea, of which fifteen rectangular section three circular. Each port appeared double, having been formed by an outside door with a time and a internal which was missing, separated by a central room of passage that was closed with shutters.
