Late neolithic megalithic chamber inside eroded remains of 10x7m barrow. The chamber has a clear size of approx. 4 x 1,5m.

It is not covered by capstones anymore. Some impressive long orthostats are preserved in situ. Twelve kerbstones are preserved. One is fallen. An iron age cemetary is located nearby.

    It is officially filed as "Stenkammargrav" which translates as "chambered tomb". The term "Hällkista"/"Kist"/"cist" is slightly misleading as it refers to small (coffin size or even smaller) burials in most countries. In Scandinavia however the term often refers to larger structures. Hence we use the name "Hällkista", but put it in the category "chambered tomb" when it refers to larger structures.

    Regarding the term "Stenkammergrav" used by Fornsøk, Riksantikvarieämbetet, Sweden, I think they use it as a general term for Prehistoric burial sites (megalithic tombs). Fornsøk, Riksantikvarieambetet also uses a type classification for Prehistoric megalithic sites: Dös (dolmen), Gånggrift (passage graves) and Hällkista (Cist)

      Of course, but we do not have a two step classification system here. The Megalithic Portal site types are an attempt to have a simple system which somehow works internationally. It does not reflect all national nomenclature attempts/systems (as even the national nomenclature systems are often not clearly defined). Hence we mention the the term Hällkista in the site name, but use type "chambered tomb" as size-wise this site has nothing to do with what is usually internationally meant when talking about a "cist" (~ small stone-built box).
      If a Hällkista would meet the description "small stone-built box" we would use type "cist".
