Barrow Cemetery in Akershus
This cemetery is one of the largest in Akershus. It contains 35 barrows in different shapes and sizes. It is possible that the cemetery contains more barrows and also flat-ground burials. The cemetery is located on a large highland area.

Several barrows have been damaged in later years because of agriculure, farmworks and construction. A large amount of barrows were lost when the main road was built. The sizes and shapes of the barrows indicates the cemetery was in use through all the iron age.

In the 1800s several finds were made in the barrows, three of the barrows revealed a lot of artifacts. Most of the artifacts were of weapons and riding equipment. These artifacts are typical of male burials.

The barrows range in size from 22 to 8 metres in diameter and from 1 to 2 metres in height. Most of the barrows are located inside very thick forest, some are in private gardens, and some are inside a farming area. Most of the barrows can be very hard to locate.
