South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology
South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology submitted by ladrin : Assumed appearance of the Otzi.. (Vote or comment on this photo)
An archaeological museum in the city of Bolzano, South Tyrol.

Three floors building are all dedicated to "Ötzi", the Man from the Ice. Ötzi was discovered accidentally in 1991 on the Schnalstal glacier. Together with the mummy was found his clothing and equipment, which included the copper age axe, "fire lighting kit", incomplete long bow, twelve arrows and flint knife.

A fascinating exhibition shows circumstances of Ötzi's death, assumable way of his living and the life at the turn of the Bronze and Stone Age in general. But the highlight of the exhibition is well preserved mummy of Ötzi himself, stored in a special climate controlled chamber replicating glacier conditions in which it was found.
