Artificial Mound in Russia
Священная гора Ёрд — Ехэ Ердо
This place in ancient times was the common Kurykan inter-tribal cult center, where till the beginning of the 20th century the annual grandiose taiglans were held in honor of the main patrons-deities of Heaven-Earth-Water.
To carry out such a large-scale national holiday, a large "World Tree" was required, the analogue of which was the volcano Yord and large water (Lake Baikal, called Buryat sacred sea - Baigal-Dalai). Near the Ayaya cliff, the main rituals and ceremonies took place, where only selected special priests had access. The assembled mass of people who did not take part in the main rituals and rituals near the Ayaya rock, arranged grand ceremonial circular dances around Mount Yord, which lasted six days and nights.
They say that in some years the number of dancers was so great that they formed 3-4 circles around the hill, and during the holiday the dancers were using several pairs of shoes, it's incredible!
A prerequisite for a holiday is the need to close the circle of dancers, holding hands. This required at least 700 people. In the event that less people gathered and the circle around the mountain did not close, the games were canceled or spent somehow; It was believed that a bad nadan (mu naadan bolo) took place and therefore there is no guarantee that the year will be good.
Through these two sacred places the Buryats and their ethnic ancestors - the Kurykans made contact with the heavenly deities. And through these same illuminated places, in response to the ritual actions performed, heavenly grace, wealth, happiness, reproduction of children and cattle descended to them.
After a secular break, the Yordyn Games again took place in the summer of 2000. Representatives of all the clans and tribes of Ust-Orda, Aginsky districts, and the Republic of Buryatia took part in them. It was decided to play games every 5 years.
The Tradition persists!
