Standing Stone (Menhir) in Lower Saxony, Bremen
Small 1 metre tall standing stone now set in concrete near a cafe/restaurant in the Elm recreational forest.
History first mentions this site in the 16th Century when the Monk Tetzel was collecting donations for the church in exchange for the absolution of sins. Apparently he was robbed by local warlord who then had to carve a cross on the stone as penance. The stone probably dates back to prehistory.
There is a series of tumuli 7 km to the west.
