This standing stone is massive! It is almost 6 metres tall, almost 1 metre wide and very thick! Its weight must be several tons! It is beautiful! Its location makes the site even more worth a visit, with a beautiful view over the Gauldalen valley and the river Gaula.
It is located on top of a hill where the main highway cuts trough a natural sand hill overlooking the Gaula river. Most of the standing stones I have seen have been close to and overlooking the sea. Interestingly this site is located far from the sea.
The stone was once a part of a large barrow cemetery. Sadly, the burial mounds once surrounded the hill have been excavated and erased or destroyed by construction of the highway or the farms nearby.
