Barrow Cemetery in Hedmark

The barrow cemetery is located in a small park just south of the Nordre Ål church and just next to the modern graveyard. The site has a parking lot and information posters and is surrounded by a modern stone fence. The burials are believed to be dating back to earlier iron age, around 0-600AD.

The cemetery consists of 15 burial cairns and one possible stone setting. The cairns are low in the terrain and some are hard to see however the low vegetation makes most of them easy to see. The largest are 8-9 metres in diameter and 30-50cm in height. Most of them seems to be built of round boulders. The three largest are located on the south east part of the cemetery. Most of the cairns are overgrown with grass but the largest have the stones in the center visible.

The possible stone circle or stone setting seems to consist of 4 stones arranged in a semi-circle. The stones are around 30cm in height and 40X50cm wide. It is around 1,5 metres between the stones. It is located in the west part of the site just next to the stone fence.
