Barrow Cemetery in Østfold

This small but pretty barrow cemetery is located inside a beautiful oak tree forest next to the road and the Verne monastery. The barrows are easy to see from the road and there is a small information poster. The forest floor is mostly dried leaves and some smaller grass. The barrow cemetery consists of three large round barrow and one elongated barrow.

The largest barrow is a huge beautiful round barrow with a diameter of 26 metres and around 2 metres in height. The top of the barrow has been flattened a little. The second largest barrow is around 20 metres in diameter and only around 1 metre in height. Some of the mass from this barrow have been removed and it has a deep crater on top. The smallest barrow is around 19 metres in diameter and 1,5 metres in height. This one has also a flattened top. The elongated barrow is around 40 metres in length, about 6-7 metres wide and 2-3 metres in height.
