Under a 1.5 meter high rocky overhang on the east side of a gorge/wedge that enters from the Steinsfjorden lake there are two carvings of boat figures. They are carved on two transverse blocks of reddish-brown sandstone, 20-50 cm above ground level.
The rock is layered and fragmented, and several blocks have fallen out and lie beneath the slab. Above the carved boat figures, there is white precipitation, and some low growth. The rocky outcrop is just a metre away from a small road going down to the lake.
According to kulturminnesøk:
Upper boat figure is 34 cm long, with twisted prows, and 5 crew stripes (5-6 cm high). High bow/extended keel plank. Crack formation above the railing line.
Lower boat figure is 26 cm long, with twisted prows, and 5 crew stripes (4-5 cm high). The forend is elegantly carved with a distinct chest and animal head with muzzle and ear, and resembles a horse.
Both boats face inwards in the keel, towards the south. Several other boat figures and undefined lines have been drawn in on surfaces below the same slab. One boat figure is partially drawn over the bow section of the upper dot-carved boat. The carved boats are very curved, and have long vertical lines, which resemble oars. Outside the slab, a lot of vegetation.
When I visited the site I could only find one single boat figure, the lower one have probably been overgrown or covered with rubble.
