Rock Art in Buskerud

At the old school building at Sundvollen close to a small forest is a large sandstone boulder with rock carvings from the Bronze Age. The boulder is around 4 metres long and around 3 metres wide. It is around 1,5 metres up from the ground. A small roof and shelter has been built to preserve the carvings and there is also a information sign.

There are 11 different figures at the site, 5 of them pictures of boats while 3 more seem to be parts of boats. The boats are around 20-30cm in length. They all have single keels and the vertical "crew-lines." There is also one spiral symbol and circle and parts of a unknown figure. The spirals are made up of circles inside one another.
There are also around 15 cup marks on the stone. 10 of the cup marks are oriented on a line which is rare among bronze age rock art in Norway.

The stone boulder has been cleared of any moss or small vegetation and is easy to find, and the figures easy to see - some of them have been painted red.
