Rampen Langdysse
Rampen Langdysse submitted by Martin_L : April 1990. The perfectly preserved eastern chamber. (Scan from old diapositive) (Vote or comment on this photo)
Damaged, but very large long barrow originally containing at least two dolmen chambers near Brønderslev in North Jutland (Nordjylland)

Rampen Langdysse is one of the largest megalithic long barrows at a length of 125m. The width varies from 9 to 17m (in the Southwest). Clear height is 2m. Orientation approximately SW-NE.
Like at most megalithic sites stones were robbed for other purposes in historic times. In this case the barrow unfortunately lost almost all kerbstones. Several eroded pits and ditches besides the remaining earthwork mark the original positions of some kerbstones. The impressive earthwork is comparatively well preserved except for the western end. Obviously a megalithic chamber was removed here. Luckily the stone robbers did not expect another chamber. When the site was examined in 1912 by H.Friis, a perfectly preserved rectangular dolmen chamber was discovered inside barrows' eastern part. The entrance is facing SE.
To get an idea of sites original appearance: The magnificent “Grønsalen Langdysse” (length 102m) is smaller, but has preserved the kerbstones.

Access remarks:
In 1990 it was necessary to walk along a field edge to reach the site.

You are right, but as stated above I tried to focus on chambered long barrows. As far as I remember there is no evidence of a megalithic chamber at Kronsteinberg Langbett near Großenbrode isn't it.

But you are right: it might also be interesting to have a list of long barrows without megalithic chamber (kammerlose Hünenbetten). But I have not prepared one yet. Of course Großenbrode will make it into this list ;-)
