TheCaptain saw from a distance on 10th Sep 2005 - their rating: Access: 5 In the village of Mas d'Azil is the natural history museum. Its in a nicely kept building just off the main village square, opposite the roofed market place right outside the church. As it was late in the day I didn’t go in. I think that if you do the caves tour, the museum visit is included for free.

The collection includes the world famous spear thrower, Le Faon des Oiseaux

At Mas d'Azil there is a noticeboard with things to do on it, and it mentions 7 dolmens in the locality of which a signposted walk will take you to the best three, so I buy a little walks booklet in the information centre. This states that it is a 5 hours walk to visit the three dolmens. Hmmmmm. Not today thank you ! The only easy dolmen to get to is indeed Cap-Del Pouech dolmen, the one I visited many years before.
