The saint's body was apparently buried nearby and then translated to what is now Bury St. Edmunds. The bridge called Gold Bridge near the site is said to be cursed after a wedding group disclosed the whereabouts of the hiding king to the danes, no wedding parties travel over the bridge as a result!
