The menhir of Bethmale valley is called Peyro Quillado, that's mean "standing" (french verb "quiller", standing like a skittle) "stone" (peyro - pierre). Many menhirs are named like this in Pyrénées.
The menhir is about 1m80 high and 1m large. He is situated at the frontier between human agriculture and mountains of pastoralism.
Certains persons have saw an anthropomorphism in the general form (head or shoulder) ; certains a circle of stones around with the menhir at the center.
At the end of the XIXe century, l'abbé Cau-Durban found fireplaces when he dig earth at the foot of the menhir.
