larkwort visited on 2nd Feb 2022 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 3 Access: 5 Just beside the road, at the intersection of Fen Road, Church Lane and Tuffen Lane. Very easy to spot from the road, it is surrounded by a low latticed fence with a latch gate. A small pool and a bucket hanging on the fence for use by visitors.

Holy Well in Suffolk. St Mary's Well is marked on the Pathfinder map at the cross roads along Tuffen Road to Thelnetham in blue italics as ‘St Mary's Well (spring). ’Kelly (1909) notes: ‘Near Thelnetham church, but near the borders of the Parish, is a perennial spring known as St Mary's Well. The water is said to possess healing qualities beneficial to eyes.’

The spring arises in a small copse of bushes on the edge of a field. The well has recently been tidied up with a new fence erected around it. There as a number of small stones lying around which suggests a possible structure.

Thanks for the info. One small detail, Thelnetham is in Suffolk, not in Norfolk. The county border is the Little Ouse which runs about half a mile to the north of here.
