Cross Well (Faversham) submitted by rhpb : The only pump I can find near this plaque is the Iron Victorian Grade II listed (ID: 1116164) pump in Market Square. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Now just a pump outside the Swan Inn, this ornate structure tapped a well which has some associations with SS Crispin and Crispinian.

Some extra info from Andy Norfolk's Kent map of wells and springs: "There is a tradition that Saints Crispin and Crispianus fled to escape persecution to Faversham where they preached at the Cross Well at the site of the Swan Inn."

More on Crispin and Crispinian in Faversham, but the well / spring is not mentioned:
