There are no boulders in St. Nicholas Street nowadays, puddingstone or otherwise. Virtually all of the east side was swept away in a redevelopment of 1974, and the street is now bisected by the London Road inner relief road.

The main puddingstones mentioned here by Dr. Rudge stood on either side of the Little Ouse river. A map of his from 1952 showed 4 boulders on the north side, just within the entrance to Minstergate, at TL868831. There were two rocks still there when I visited in 1980, but even these have gone now. On the south side were two very large boulders at about TL868830, close to the riverbank and an old maltings, but the whole area was wiped clean for a car park in the 1960s.

Two smallish stones (I'm not sure if they're puddingstone or not) can still be seen a little further along Minstergate, and are visible in this shot on Street View, one beneath the street sign, the other a against a wall a few metres to the left.

A slight correction to my earlier post. I mis-remembered the location of the two stones that I saw in Thetford in 1980. They weren't in Minstergate but slightly south, at TL868830, either side of the entrance to Bridge House. They are still there now, and are visible on Street View, here: http://goo.gl/maps/bQrbb and here: http://goo.gl/maps/Hdqi7. The latter one looks like it has been roughly shaped, and I'm not sure if either is actually puddingstone.
