I've now visited this site (on July 31st), and can state that in fact there is NO puddingstone here. The stone that I thought I'd seen on Street View isn't a stone at all. It looks like the car park wall originally extended all across the frontage, but was replaced by fencing, and the stone removed at that time from the southern end.

The grid reference given above, TL857708, is the one stated in Dr. Rudge's 'The Lost Trackway', edited and published by John Cooper in 1994, but it's wrong. The correct spot is 170m further west at TL855708, close to the crossroads, as given by Rudge in 1955. The Griffin Inn is now the Cadogan, and the flattened top of the stone is level with the surface at the end of the pub car park wall, as shown in this Street View image:
