Dolmen des Grandes-Chaumes
Dolmen des Grandes-Chaumes submitted by TAUPIN : Dolmen des Grandes-Chaumes or Dolmen du Chatelard on St-Ciers sur Bonnieure. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Another mégalithic monument in north Charente can be found in the territory of Saint-Ciers-sur-Bonnieure near the Hamlet named Esnord.

In few historical notes, this monument is named "Dolmen du CHATELARD" but the surrounding place is called "Les Grandes Chaumes".

It is situated on the right of a white agricultural track between a cropfield and a Woodland. It is a little monument: about 2,5m long, 2m in width and 1,3m high biased along a N,S direction.
Three main slabs support the capstone about 0,5m on thickness and two other big stones at the entrance of the cella.
There are also many big rocks in the environment of this dolmen. Maybe the quarry was not so far?

It have been studied in the past and partially re-built.
