Holyfield Puddingstone
Holyfield Puddingstone submitted by Thorgrim : Puck's Stone in Holy Field near Waltham Abbey. TL 387030. Puck's Stone can be found in Holy Field near Waltham Abbey. This puddingstone was the trigger that began Dr Rudge's fifty year research into the existence of a lost Puddingstone Trackway from Grimes Graves to Stonehenge.

Happily this one is a good specimen very easily found, unlike the two neighbouring ones which are destroyed, buried, or otherwise unfindable.

(see Sacred Stones of Essex). Site No. 43 on the Puddingstone Trail.

Holyfield Puddingstone
Holyfield Puddingstone submitted by Thorgrim : Puck's Stone at Holyfield near Waltham Abbey. This stone was to lead Dr Rudge on a lifetime's research into the possibility of a neolithic trackway marked by puddingstones. He was still working on his research on his 90th birthday! sorry everyone my photo caption is wrong and refers to the one at St Albans. Happily this one is a good specimen very easily found, unlike the two neighbouring ones which are destroyed, buried, or otherwise unfindable. (hopefully now sorted - Ed.)
