Artificial Mounds in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana.
Several circular mounds. Excavations indicate ages at approximately 3000 BC, making these mounds some of the oldest in North America.
The location given is for the south bank of the Bayou D'Arbonne nearest Vienna. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places, but lies on private land and is not accessible.
Note: See article on coring methods to determine if mounds are man-made when artifacts are few and how Hedgepeth is being used as a "control" for the examination of newly found mounds.
