A Mam Mayan site, occupied from the early Classic till the late Post Classic, actually till the Spanish Conquistadors laid siege to it, bringing the Mam Kingdom to it's knees by starving them out.

Heavily "restored" by the United Fruit Company (!) under John M. Dimick and Stanley Harding Boggs, who believed that covering the site with tonnes of cement was a viable archaeological method. See Chichen Itza in Mexico and Tazumal in El Salvador.

More info and picset.

Ah but now I have read the accompanying text perhaps the 'nuclear power station' look is only because it is encased in concrete! Something our children's children will no doubt think 'normal'!

Shockingly it reminds me of a nuclear power station such as some photos of fukishima

I get an aura about the place as if it was a huge engineering complex. Each of the huge platforms (foundations) seem to have a relationship or connection with others nearby in a symetrical way. The platforms would have had huge machines mounted on them.
Where are the machines or evidence of them. Well you can ask the same question of other possible engineering complexes like Teotihuacan. Any engineers capable of building on that scale would also have had the capacity to move their machines after they had done with them.
That's my guess.
