The site in Jefferson County, Missouri is the home of the Kimmswick Bone Bed, one of the most famous and extensive Pleistocene ice age deposits of fossils, including a number of bones of giant mastodons. Interpretative trails and picnic sites dot the landscape and a museum / visitor centre tells the natural and cultural story of the Clovis culture, which existed in the area between 10,000 and 14,000 years ago.

The "Wildflower Trail" with a trailhead near the museum takes you to the site of the famous bone bed, but there are no ongoing digs and the site is covered for protection and preservation.

Small entrance charge for adults, ages 12 and under: Free
Open most days throughout the year.
