Calluragh South submitted by enkidu41 : R 101860 This foreshortened long-distance shot is due to the intimidating presence of a bull in the field! The pointed stone at the rear is in fact some way back from the rest and it's not clear whether it was part of the original tomb. The shot shows 2 uprights with a jumble of smaller pieces/stones lying on and around the one on the right. The rear stone is a slab placed on its long edge betwee... (Vote or comment on this photo)
Portal Dolmen in Co. Clare

In a small pasture field by the road the ruinous condition of this tomb makes it difficult to identify its type with any great certainty. Two low uprights stand next to a jumble of fallen stones and are "joined" at their ends by a shot slab placed on edge. A further pointed (probably broken in half) stone stands some way off from the chamber. Superficially this seems like a wedge tomb but, if so, the size of the stones are unusually small and it may therefore be a portal dolmen.
