Barrow Cemetery in Madison County, Mississippi.
This group has been dated from Late Woodland to Early Mississippian Era - 800 to 1100 AD. The largest and most accessible mound is 110 by 60 feet and 4 feet high. When excavated it showed that it was built in stages for successive burials.

In this case, two smaller mounds were later "bridged" with another burial to form a long, low barrow. The burials had relatively few artifacts, but pottery fragments supported the use of this group for burials over a long time period.
This mound group is directly on the Natchez Trace Parkway, with a small parking area for visitors.
